We all know or should know by now that we cannot carry on liquids of any kinds over 3.4 floz but what about our bags? Most airlines let you have a small luggage piece and “personal” item which usually means a purse or small bag but what I consider to be a small “personal” item and what Alexi would consider to be a small “personal” item are very different so we I wanted to help make this clear in time for summer travel. Here is a list of the size requirements for carry-on bags from some of the biggest airlines. XO Kate
It’s summer! Accordingly, I’m packing my bags for a summer of travel. I’m traveling between Nantucket, Los Angeles, Denmark, Montauk & Boston, not a bad summer line up; however, with each destination & the change in climate it wreaks havoc on my hair & skin. Above & beyond the essentials these are the 10 products that are coming on every trip with me.
I always get a blow out before a trip; it alleviates the anxiety of having to do it myself! Usually by day 3 my hair looks oily and I should wash it…instead I use the Blow Faux Dry Shampoo to remove the excess oil from my hair & give it volume. When it is finally time to wash my hair I go for the beach/wavy look. It is super easy to achieve & doesn’t require a blow dryer (one less thing to pack). I spray the Blow Beach Blow Texturizing Mist on my hair when it is damp, run my fingers thru it and I’m good to go.
Supergoop! Save Face Serum SPF 30+ Amazing product! I add to my face & body lotion in the morning when getting ready. It keeps my skin hydrated and protected from the sun without irritation and in case I forgot to apply sunscreen I know I’m covered.
Ole Henriksen Truth to Go Wipes-I throw these in my bag for the beach, working out or if I’m just walking around in humid climates. I use them to remove makeup on the nights I’m feeling super lazy.
I have started to wear a hat when I’m outside to avoid tanning my face. Obviously, I want a sun kissed complexion in the summer months so I cheat & use the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads. Oh & they exfoliate as they tan!
Antibacterial Towelettes…because you just never know when you’ll need them and you’ll be glad you have them when you do need them! I like the Herban Essentials Lemon scent for summer, the citrus is refreshing.
Hey Beauty Junkies! We have a new kit to add to 3Floz.com but we can’t pick the perfect name. Please help us by commenting with your brightest and most creative names. 3floz.com & Dr. Dennis Gross will select a winner who will receive the kit. The winner will also receive the satisfaction of seeing their kit on 3Floz.com, and you can’t put a price on that!
I was flipping through a magazine and saw this question - “Is Your Skin Ready for Summer”, I got up and looked in the mirror and unfortunately the answer was ABSOLUTELY NOT! My skin was not only pale and a little dull but I have been experiencing some unsightly blemishes on my back, just what I don’t need for summer. I started looking online for some home remedies for clear, smooth and soft skin (since I never have to worry about the pale part because I have Tan Towels for the perfect faux tan), but what about everything else?
Self Magazine to the rescue! I found this great bath tub soak recipe and now I am going to share it with you! This is really relaxing and after 2 soaks over the weekend my skin felt so much better and the blemishes are starting to fade away. I threw in 2 oranges slices , Dr. Hauschka Lavender Bath Oil and 2 peppermint tea bags into a luke/cool warm tub water and soaked for an hour each time. I was a little of weary of how this was going to feel on my sensitive areas but I didnt have any issues… The orange is a natural astringent so it helps keep skin clear while the lavender bath oil moisturizes the skin and the peppermint tea refreshes and energizes the skin.
Try this and let me know what you think! SUMMER HERE I COME!
I recently asked Gregory Patterson (@gopatterson) -stylist & educator from Blow NY what he travels with. I wasn’t expecting him to be low maintenance but wait until you see his list…Not mention he gets it all into his Louis Vuitton duffle! XKD
Resistance Bands-I always have my resistance band with me so that in the off chance I can’t get to a gym I have weights and can work out.
IPod with Travel Speakers-Music is an important part of life especially when I am traveling and need to start and finish my day stress free and feeling like me.
I have this bottle of Lavender Essential Oils that I carry with me if I am flying. It doubles as my personal fragrance and calming agent for my extreme fear of flying-which is weird since my mom has worked for the airline my entire life-therapists have at that one!
Jonathan Dirt Texturizing Paste-I can’t explain to you how amazing this paste is. It is flexible but gives hold I can achieve a shine or matte look it is truly the most versatile hair product I have ever found.
Self Tanning from the Inside Out by Eating Carrots?
If you have been following me on twitter I am sure you are sick of me talking about the Dr. Denis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads and their AMAZING ability to take my skin from white to bronze overight. I mean how can I not talk about these GEMS that use my skins own Vitamin D so the color is very natural and exfoliate my skin at the same time?
So I have the outside covered so now I need to work on my tan from the inside… How you ask? I just read in a magazine that eating half a cup of baby carrots a day can help give skin a sun-kissed appearance! They go on to say that the carotenoids-nutrients that give carrots their tint-can make our complexions glow. Since they are only 40-60 calories per servings it is a low-cal treat inside and out.
Don’t be afraid if you run into me on the street and I look like I have been to the Bahamas recently. I haven’t I have just been eating my baby carrots and using glow pads.
We spend most of our days talking beauty & traveling; however, sometimes we stumble upon something so great (unrelated to beauty & traveling) that we have to share! Kate stumbled upon & made Vegan White Truffle & Mushroom Pizza. Below is the recipe & a little direction from Kate.
So I have pretty much committed to a vegan lifestyle and I made the most delicious pizza last night that I know everyone will love!! Cheese and meat are not necessary for pizza I swear!!
The photo below does not do the pizza justice.
Flat Bread-I used Flax Roll-Ups but any tortilla or pizza crust will work
2 tbsp Hummus-I used garlic roasted
½ Portobella Mushroom Cap-sliced into bit size pieces
Red onion-to taste-truly depends on your love of red onion
1 tsp olive oil
Black Pepper to taste
6 Kalamata Olives
2 Garlic Cloves-diced
Baby Spinach-enough to cover the Flat Bread
Truffel oil to taste
Red Pepper flakes to taste
Put the flat bread in the oven until it is toasted I put it in my over at 350 for 8 minutes
Sautee the onions, garlic, portabello mushroom, olive oil, garlic cloves and baby spinach.
Spread hummus onto flat bread. Add the sautéed mix. Sprinkle the red pepper flakes and black pepper to taste. Place kalamata olives and then drizzle truffle oil over pizza. Enjoy it is AMAZING!!! xoxo Kate
We spend most of our days talking beauty & traveling; however, sometimes we stumble upon something so great (unrelated to beauty & traveling) that we have to share! Today we stumbled upon Marlo by Christoper Browne - 38 comics and counting of “Marlo the Loyal Dog”. Here are a few of our favorites:
