Don’t Leave Home Without’em Products for all Fashionista’s
It’s that time again when all eyes turn to NYC to find out what is “HOT” in fashion and style for this season. Now, I am no editor and probably wouldn’t be referred to as a fashionista but I do know beauty products and how to fix beauty emergency’s! Here are my 5 products that should be in your bag at all times this fashion week!
David Kirsch Wellness Survival Kit- It’s cold outside, warm inside, events by the hour and late nights which leaves you feeling sluggish and run down. Fashion week is all about looking your best, but David Kirsch Survival Kit includes everything you need to feel your best too, so don’t worry about your 15 hour day or lack of sleep. The Survival Kit includes: Vitamins, Energy Bubbles, Thermo Bubbles and Greens - everything you need to power thru the week.
La Fresh Nail Polish Removers- Who hasn’t been there, you just got your nails done and bam you chip a nail or it starts to peel… Fear no more carry the La Fresh Nail Polish towelettes in your bag and it will get the paint off every nail without leaving stains.
Air Repair Rescue Balm- I’m not exaggerating when I say DO NOT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THIS PRODUCT! It is amazing for your lips, your hands and in a fashion week pinch you can use a small amount to slick your hair into this season’s bun, put a little on your lashes and cheeks for the dewy look and don’t forget a little on the front of your legs for that celeb shine and define!
Herban Essentials Mixed Towelettes- Do I even need to explain why sanitizing towelettes are necessary with all the hand shaking you will be doing as the fabulous fashionista you are?
The E! network personality, beloved (or feared) for her outspoken red carpet commentary, recently revealed that she’s had 739 surgical procedures. Beauty High posted snippets of her interview, and we were surprised to find out that Rivers gets plastic surgery on a weekly basis.
Let’s be honest it is really hard to stay on routine, especially a workout and eating well routine, while traveling. There are so many roadblocks, some of which we can control and some we cannot. Prior to my life as Co-Founder of 3floz.com I was the Sales Manager at Archipelago Botanicals. I traveled ALL THE TIME and my waistline showed it! My job was to entertain reps, travel with them and work trade shows - all involved eating out 3 meals a day and maybe a little (or a lot ) or wine depending on the occasion. After a year on the Sales Manager non-diet I decided to take control of my life and change how I traveled. Here are the top 5 tips I have to staying healthy while traveling for work:
DON’T SET YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE-I say this first because I feel like we all do it. We make lists either on paper or in our heads of what we are going to do THIS time we are traveling. We are going to get up at 6am every morning and workout, we are going to eat only egg whites and salads and ABSOLUTELY no alcohol… Now this can work for a day or 2 but why commit yourself to such strict rules. Unless you are preparing for a wedding, walk on the red carpet, or you first appearance on Next Top Model (is that show even on the air anymore) then there is no need to be so strict. What needs to be found is balance. I struggle with this everyday and struggled with it every time I traveled but I truly believe it is the best way to achieve healthy habits on the road. Depending on how long you are traveling decide to work out every OTHER day and on the days you don’t work out don’t overeat-it is truly all about balance.
EITHER OR RULE- Bread basket or desert or wine not two and definitely not all three. I know this seems sad but think about it this way you CAN have one of these!! Plan your meals before they happen. If you know you are going to an amazing dinner than watch what you eat during the day and get online, look thru the menu and decide which if the three you want. (If you are desperate for two of the three, make sure you get your workout in, eat super healthy all day, and have a really light dinner… all about balance).
GET YOUR ZZZ’s-It has been proven time and time again that getting a goodnights rest helps in EVERY aspect of your life, this is especially important on the road, being out of your routine already sets you up for tired mornings but if you can get 6-7 hours of good sleep (8 is the goal but is pretty hard to achieve) every night you will notice you are more alert, can make smarter food decisions and you will have energy to get sweaty (get your minds out of the gutter I am talking about working out).
BOOK A HOTEL WITH A GYM OR A PRETTY OUTDOOR LANDSCAPE- Nice gyms or beautiful landscapes are motivate to get your butt out of your room and break a sweat. Most hotels have gyms but not all gyms are created equal so do your research and find a hotel with a gym you will actually WANT to use!
FIND A GYM OR CLASS YOU HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY AND GO-This is my favorite tip! When I used to come to NYC for work I would always go to a Physique57, Soul-Cycle, or whatever class was being attended by celebrities at the time. If you are traveling to LA you should go to any of the Equinox gyms, bar method classes, or soul-cycle, in Chicago go work out at The Four Seasons. Barry’s Bootcamp has locations all over including overseas, it is an AMAZING workout and there are always celebs, if you are into that J (Side note: if you are in NYC take a class with Patrick Frost he is as tough as he is cute). These classes/one day gym passes can be a bit pricey but they will ALWAYS be less expensive than a few cocktails and will make you feel A LOT better in the long run.
I am totally not trying to be a buzz kill because I truly believe that we only get one life so we should it enjoy it but in order to enjoy it for a LONG time finding a healthy balance is key. Do you have any healthy traveling tips?
Now I know this is kind of cheat blog since I took it directly from the pages of Glamour but I loved it so much I wanted to share it…. We are taught from a young age (usually the age we start doing it) that lying is wrong but you know what, sometimes it isn’t completely wrong. If Glamour says it its fine I feel like its fine right? No, I have no idea what my ex is doing now- “yes you do, you stalk his facebook or his friends facebooks but there is NEVER a reason to admit this!”
It works so much better your way boss-“you are a complete idiot and you are either doing it exactly how I showed you and are taking credit for it or you have totally f’d it up and this task will now take me all weekend to complete!”
Wide awake! Have been for hours, actually- “was TOTALLY asleep and am doing everything I can to cough away my sleep voice.”
It must be fun to have so many cat-“What woman do you know brands HERSELF the crazy cat lady? What is she thinking? Self-fulfilling prophecy much?”
Biggest I’ve ever seen, babe- “unless you count….”
Oh, is Project Runway still on? I never have time to watch TV- “TOTALLY guilty of this one. Get caught every time because I have something to add to EVERY conversation regarding housewives, bachelors, or jersey shore.”
I love you with short hair!- “Unless you are Michelle Williams what are you thinking cutting your hair that short? Are you TRYING to look like Peter Pan?”
So sorry! It must have gone to spam- “I got your email and I either forgot about it or wanted to forget about it.
Really, nothing but mascara.- “Girl, I can see your bronzer lines and the marks on your face where you were pinching color into your cheeks!”
I think it was food poisoning. I hardly drank a thing.- “except 3 glasses of wine, 2 tequila shots and a lemoncello but I don’t think that should make me feel this sick.”
Jennifer Lopez was spotted on her way to the airport in New York City on Wednesday rocking cropped plaid pants with a fitted navy sweater, a Gucci fur scarf, Fendi bag and towering Christian Dior lace-up booties. Kim Kardashian arrived in Miami on the same day wearing a blue Rachel Zoe maxi skirt with a sexy thigh-high slit, a white tank, Giuseppe Zanotti platform sandals, a Chloe belt and Kristen Elspeth necklace. Who has better style?
We’ve all used Epsom Salts over the years to heal aching muscles but just recently we discovered that Epsom Salts have so many other great uses in the beauty category. Check out some of the ways to use Epsom Salts:
DIY Body Scrub - add a spoonful of crushed salts to a palm full of body wash and exfoliate.
Exfoliating Face Cleanser - mix a half-teaspoon of Epsom salt with your cleansing cream. Gently massage into skin and rinse with cold water.
Blackheads - boil a half cup of water and add a teaspoon of Epsom salt and 3 drops of iodine.
Hairspray - too much fun with the hairspray bottle? Combine 1 gallon of water, 1 cup of lemon juice, and 1 cup of Epsom salt. Pour mixture into dry hair and leave for 20 minutes. Shampoo as normal.
Wavy Hair - this is our favorite! Mix a teaspoon of salts + a few drops of jojoba oil and 1/4 cup water in a spritzer bottle and mist on damp hair. While we haven’t masted this yet we are hoping our hair will look like this:
