Weekend Warriors

Weekend get-a-ways during the Summer are basically on everyone’s list from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Whether you go away every weekend, or only once, packing for a weekend away could sometimes be more stressful than when you had to pack for Freshman Year of College. There’s nothing worse than forgetting your staple beauty item or favorite piece of clothing and having no back up. Also, majority of the time your form of transportation tends to usually end up being overcrowded and uncomfortable (especially when you watch your perfectly packed duffel get smothered by some strangers over sized suitcase.) In order to avoid these nightmares and fully enjoy your weekend, we’ve created a little cheat sheet to help you kickoff a successful weekend away…

*Less is More: Before the weekend begins, scan your closet for your favorite piece of each item of clothing. Favorite jeans, tank/tee, dress, sweater, bathing suit, flats and heels. Clearly your not going to be wearing these items all at once, so you have the freedom to mix and match depending on your plans.

*Jewels, Jewels, Jewels!: They don’t require a lot of room, but they do attract a lot of attention. Having an array of accessories to play with can instantly transform (and disguise) any outfit.

*When packing your beauty products, think of being stranded on an Island: It may sound silly, but if you were to think of the 5 products you wouldn’t be able to survive without if stranded on an island, those are what you need to bring. Because it’s a weekend away, feel free to throw in a bright colored gloss or shadow for fun, but don’t go overboard. Is it really necessary to bring the lipstick with matching liner that has a finishing gloss/highlighter that can be used for eyes, cheeks, and everywhere in between? No. And chances are you’ll end up leaving it behind at wherever you stayed.

So don’t stress about fitting your whole Summer wardrobe into your duffel, it’ll only end up being a waste of your time and energy. Plus after the end of the weekend you’ll probably be more concerned about if “whatever happens there, stays there” then if you didn’t bring that sheer blouse in every color of the rainbow.

Happy Summer Travels!

Packing List: Summer Travel

It’s summer! Accordingly, I’m packing my bags for a summer of travel. I’m traveling between Nantucket, Los Angeles, Denmark, Montauk & Boston, not a bad summer line up; however, with each destination & the change in climate it wreaks havoc on my hair & skin. Above & beyond the essentials these are the 10 products that are coming on every trip with me.

I always get a blow out before a trip; it alleviates the anxiety of having to do it myself! Usually by day 3 my hair looks oily and I should wash it…instead I use the Blow Faux Dry Shampoo to remove the excess oil from my hair & give it volume. When it is finally time to wash my hair I go for the beach/wavy look. It is super easy to achieve & doesn’t require a blow dryer (one less thing to pack). I spray the Blow Beach Blow Texturizing Mist on my hair when it is damp, run my fingers thru it and I’m good to go.

Supergoop! Save Face Serum SPF 30+ Amazing product!  I add to my face & body lotion in the morning when getting ready.  It keeps my skin hydrated and protected from the sun without irritation and in case I forgot to apply sunscreen I know I’m covered.

Jonathan Weightless Smooth No-Frizz Hydrating Balm-Great for smoothing out even the frizziest summer hair without weighing it down. My hair gets super frizzy!

Ole Henriksen Truth to Go Wipes-I throw these in my bag for the beach, working out or if I’m just walking around in humid climates. I use them to remove makeup on the nights I’m feeling super lazy.

I have started to wear a hat when I’m outside to avoid tanning my face. Obviously, I want a sun kissed complexion in the summer months so I cheat & use the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads.  Oh & they exfoliate as they tan!

I carry The Laundress Delicate Wash so I can wash my bathing suit & cover up every night. During the hot months my clothes seem to wrinkle easier when I pack so I also carry The Laundress Crease Release. Works like a charm.

Anthony for Men After Sun Cooling Cream-nothing feels better than this lotion after a long day in the sun. It doubles as my body lotion.

Antibacterial Towelettes…because you just never know when you’ll need them and you’ll be glad you have them when you do need them! I like the Herban Essentials Lemon scent for summer, the citrus is refreshing.

Safe travels,
